Condensed Milk Dinner Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions:

  1. Activate the Yeast:
    • In a bowl, combine the warm milk and sweetened condensed milk. Stir in the melted butter.
    • Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the liquid mixture, and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
    • Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture.
    • Gradually incorporate the flour into the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the Dough:
    • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. First Rise:
    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours or until it doubles in size.
  5. Shape the Rolls:
    • Punch down the risen dough and turn it onto a floured surface.
    • Divide the dough into equal portions and shape each portion into a ball.
  6. Second Rise:
    • Place the shaped rolls on a greased baking sheet, leaving a little space between each.
    • Cover the rolls with a damp cloth and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  7. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Egg Wash:
    • Brush the risen rolls with beaten egg to give them a golden-brown finish.
  9. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  10. Cool:
    • Allow the condensed milk dinner rolls to cool on a wire rack.
  11. Enjoy:
    • Serve the rolls warm with butter or your favorite spreads.

These dinner rolls are soft, slightly sweet, and perfect for serving with meals or enjoying as a snack. Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less condensed milk according to your taste preferences.
