In a tragic incident, a carjacking suspect, 20-year-old Dion Lamar Taylor, lost his life when a Baltimore County police car struck him as he fled the scene with two others. The carjacking occurred on Merle Drive in Woodlawn, where the suspects had targeted a pizza delivery person. A subsequent police chase unfolded at Essex and Liberty roads, concluding at Northern Parkway and Highgate Drive.

Teisha Cook, Taylor’s mother, recounted her desperate search for her son after learning of the incident. Taylor, who lived a block away from the crash site, was fatally struck when the suspects abandoned their moving car. Police reported that a handgun was thrown from the vehicle during the pursuit.

While authorities asserted that there was no indication of intentional harm by the officer, Cook demands answers, emphasizing that her son was not a criminal but a “homebody.” A 16-year-old suspect was arrested and charged in connection with the incident, while the third remains at large. The Baltimore City police are conducting an investigation, and the involved officer is on routine administrative leave. The incident has sparked questions about police protocol and accountability.
