Actress Alyssa Milano has a 12-year-0ld son who apparently loves baseball. On Thursday January 25, 2024, Milano posted on X (formerly Twitter) about her son’s baseball team. She shared a picture of the team and also shared that they’re planning to go on a trip to Cooperstown.

That wasn’t all that Milano shared. She real reason for her post made fans furious. She shared a GoFundMe link asking for money for the team’s upcoming trip. Milano wrote, “My son’s baseball team is raising money for their Cooperstown trip. Any amount would be so greatly appreciated.”

The fundraiser’s goal was $10,000, and just five days later, it has already exceeded that amount, raising over $11,000.

Asking for a donation when you’re rich and famous didn’t go over well with fans. For example, one person wrote, “Imagine being so out of touch that you ask your followers to contribute money to your child’s trip when you have a net worth of 10 million dollars.”

And in case you’re thinking that perhaps Milano was doing a good thing by simply sharing the fundraiser, it turns out that she is not only shared it but actually is the one who set it up. As one person on X pointed out, “Alyssa Milano has actually SET UP the GoFund me. It’s under Alyssa Bugliari (her husband’s surname) and the beneficiary is her husband David Bugliari. Two millionaires stay millionaires by asking plebs to fund their children. Amazing.”

Another comment reads, “Just a reminder: Alyssa Milano and her husband are both multi-millionaires. They could pay for the entire trip for the whole team without batting an eye!”

Milano didn’t ignore the controversy, and she didn’t take down the GoFundMe. In fact, it has exceeded it’s original goal of $10,000. In just five days, the fundraiser has raised over $11,000.

In her defense, Milano wrote on X, “I’ve paid for uniforms for the entire team and coaches, thrown bday parties and sponsor any kid who can’t afford monthly dues. The kids also do fundraising themselves—car washes, movie nights, and many other fun things!”

Not everyone is against Milano. Some think the fundraiser is a good idea. For example, one comment reads, “It’s unreal, right away, just because you’re an actress, people think you have to fund the entire thing. There’s not a damn thing wrong with your doing this. It’s a great example for the kids to see you as Alyssa the Mom, not Alyssa the actress. This world is overrun with/Karens!”
