Singer Cher is reportedly convinced that her 47-year-old son Elijah Blue Allman is currently not capable of making responsible choices when it comes to his money. She believes that he’s going to squander all of the money left to him by his late father, Gregg Allman, on drugs.
According to legal documents obtained by the New York Post, Cher is requesting a conservatorship for her son, and she wants to control it. The documents claim that Elijah is “substantially unable to manage his own financial resources.” Cher filed the documents because she “is concerned that any funds distributed to Elijah will immediately be spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself, and putting Elijah’s life at risk.”
The documents also explain that Cher has not discussed the topic with her son “because given Elijah’s current mental and physical health issues, discussed in detail in the concurrently filed Confidential Supplemental Information, he is unable to form or express a preference concerning the appointment of a conservator for his estate.”
Reportedly, Elijah is suffering from both mental issues and issues with drug abuse.
This is not the first time that Cher has reportedly attempted to take control of her son’s life. According to Elijah’s estranged wife, Marieangela King, in December 2022, Cher allegedly hired four men to kidnap Elijah from a hotel room on his and Marieangela’s wedding anniversary. According to Marieangela, the couple was attempting to work on their marriage, but Cher continued to “interfere.”
In October, Cher claimed the reported kidnapping is not true. She said, “I didn’t do it, and if I did it, I wouldn’t say I did it.” She added, “You never stop being a mom — you go to the end, you go to the mattresses when you’re trying to save your children. But I didn’t do it. And if I did it, I wouldn’t care to tell you.”
